It all started with a single question: 'How can I make use of these clothes again?' Yasin Sert is a young and talented entrepreneur in Istanbul Turkey. He always had the vision of recycling used clothes and turning them into valuable objects. One day he watched the story of an old lady on TV. She was weaving rugs from clothes on loom in a village. Then the idea sparkled and he visited the old lady with the idea. Chapputz became a bridge between the materials and craftsmen by recycling old clothes into fashionable and beautiful objects and with using traditional methods. Weaving is a handcraft which has been practiced in Anatolia for many years. Our clutches, backpacks, I pad cases, pillowcases are produced by the weaving technique.
Another Turkish handcraft is embroidery in traditional Anatolian culture. It is not only used for decoration but it also is a communication tool with its symbolism. Every figure has its own story, some tells you a love story, some a happy occasion or a new beginning. In our collection some of our handbags are produced with embroidery wire work and each piece is a unique piece of art that you can carry with you all the time. We can customize your bag if you want to gift them away for a special occasion.'
